Often overlooked as an entity separate from the Kingdom of Thellerg which shares its name the Principality of Thellerg has a vibrant history dating back nearly 2000 years before the War of Aros (which unified the human lands beneath a Thell royal family).
Physically most Thells have olive skin with hair that ranges from medium brown to black and dark eyes. Their language lends itself well to extensive flowery prose and melodrama and it's a common joke among those from other nations that half of Thell discussions take place with their hands.
Children born outside marriage in Thell territories use the name Rivers in place of a traditional family name.
House Videson is clearly the most influential force in the Principality, but the bulk of the house is usually focused on the actions of the Kingdom. This leaves House Ramirez as the primary overseers of the Principality which they do from their familial keep in Crenza.
The noble houses of the principality have supported the growth and promotion of the church of Enelwing for several hundred years. Some say this is because the nobles are particularly devout, others because the Enelwing doctrines of law and order serve their purposes of maintaining control and order over the smallfolk. The low-born of the principality seem content in the worship of Enelwing for the most part, with prayers to other gods as special situations warrant.
The Thell people have one of the older human cultures with a broad collection of noble houses with the oldest stretching back nearly a thousand years. The nobles of the Principality of Thellerg form the government of the region. In particular House Ramirez holds the actual throne for the principality and are typically seen as fair and just rulers.
Born the fourth child of House Ramirez and well-removed from being in line for the throne Lord Rino was allowed to explorer his talent as a vintner (and, according to rumor, his unquenchable baser instincts). Embracing a love for the unknowable chaos of human nature he eventually found his way to the priesthood of Elmindel.
